Keri’s Yummy Breadsticks

 


Dough

Topping

Marinara Sauce (if desired)

  • 2 T olive oil
  • 1 T minced garlic
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 T basil

  1. In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, mix water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the flour and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Cover with a towel and let rise for 10 minutes.
  4. On a floured surface, roll the dough out into a square. The dough should be about ¼ inch thick. Mix ¼ C butter and 1 t minced garlic together. Spread the garlic butter over the whole dough square. Sprinkle with salt.
  5. Fold the square in half and cut the dough into 1 inch wide strips with a pizza cutter. Twist each strip and place in on a baking sheet. Let rise for 20 minutes.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the breadsticks are still warm, melt the remaining butter and add 1 t minced garlic, salt, basil, and oregano. Brush the herb butter over the breadsticks, and top with Parmesan cheese.
